Dear Principal Bardsley,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing in response to the letter my colleagues and I received regarding the children in our care.  It pains me to learn that there are concerns over the emotional well being of our charges.

Parker was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. He’d been bitten, drained of all his blood, his heart was no longer beating, and his murderers had even confessed–happily–to the crime. Two of his classmates had witnessed it, though their fate was much the same as his own, making their word not worth all that much. Young Parker was as dead as a doornail.

 

And yet… he was going home for Christmas.

Welcome friends!  Gather round; you have probably all been dying to know what happened after the Halloween party “closet incident”.  Our young vampires have been on holiday and it’s time to hear their stories of holiday “cheer”.

THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

THE ONE WHERE EVERYONE FINDS OUT ABOUT SKYLAR AND RAYMOND

Fake cobwebs were hanging off the ceiling, all five fog machines were billowing down the halls and Monster Mash was blaring from the ballroom.  Basically, everything was perfect.

Skylar was pretty sure there had never been a more awesome Halloween party than this one, and she was actually glad she had agreed they should host it.  She turned back to her co-conspirator and continued their plotting.

“As I was saying, Raymond, we have to get Trevor and Donovan apart, and that will never happen if stupid Connie Conners is hanging all over them.  What we need to do is find a distraction for her.”

Ophelia and Renata were standing at the front door of the Holloway residence, both full of excitement. This was it. They had finally done it!

Androcles knew full well that patience was a highly prized virtue, but this was just ridiculous.  Ophelia had been in the large walk-in blood fridge for what seemed like a thousand years, and he was hungry.

PARKER: THE VAMPIRE WHO KNEW TOO LITTLE

Dude, could this day be going any better?

Parker pranced down the hallway, feeling way too good about everything.  No, not pranced…sure that stupid jerk Donovan Matthews always said that about him (and had even made up some ridiculous nickname for him), but Parker knew what he actually had was pure swagger.

ANDROCLES: MAN OF FAME

 

“Hello friends!” Androcles boomed as he swept into the rec room of the American Legion building.  All heads turned to stare.  Several wise, old souls looked hard at him with tired eyes between their white beards and NRA caps.  There was a younger man in the corner with a rigid spine and pulled back shoulders.  He looked wary and tense; probably fresh from combat, Androcles thought.  He could barely suppress his smile.  These were his kind of men and women.  Soldiers.

RAYMOND AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY

Raymond stared at the desk in front of him, praying the day would just end already.  The dreaded “Time Out” at First Flight High was not something he would wish on anyone.  Well, except maybe Skylar.  In fact, he would wish her boils, the plague…or worse, a really terrible acne breakout.
